This coastal compound sits above Penobscot Bay in Northport, Maine. The main house features Fir trim, paneling, cabinets, and doors for a warm glow. The great room features 2 fireplaces and a panoramic view of the bay and Islesboro. The screened porch has bronze screening in mahogany frames to endure the coastal environment. Radiant heat in the floors keeps your feet, and the rest of you, nice and warm.
Right next door is a cozy little guest cottage. The arched dormer and windows give it a whimsical feel. Inside, the exposed ceiling beams and stone fireplace make for an intimate space. The patio on the water side has a trellis above to provide some shade. Once the guests arrive, it’s hard to get them to leave.
The last building of this group is the barn on the other side of the main house. The 200 year old frame was disassembled in Wisconsin and transported to Maine where it was raised once again and brought back to life. Pine paneling provides that nostalgic feel, and the exposed timber frame tells the story of this great old building with a new purpose.
